The role
GitLab is hiring a backend engineer for its Change Record team, using Ruby on Rails to record what changed in source code, why, and whether a person or AI agent made it. The role is remote from Poland or the United Kingdom.
What you will do
- Build change-record features into GitLab's source code experience
- Keep the Source Code area reliable through tuning, caching and rate limiting
- Work through legacy constraints on a critical system
- Collaborate with Gitaly, Code Review and product teams
What they ask for
- Professional experience building backend web applications, services or APIs
- Experience with Ruby and GraphQL
- Full-stack development experience
- Backend unit and integration testing with Git and code review
- Clear written and spoken English
- Experience using AI coding agents
