The role
GitLab, an all-remote company, is hiring a Director of Analytics Engineering to lead a team of eight. The job is to build a trusted semantic model, AI-ready self-service data access and company-wide data apps. The role is remote in the United States.
What you will do
- Lead an analytics engineering team of 8
- Build a governed semantic model used across tools
- Build evals and ground-truth datasets for answer quality
- Set strategy for BI tools and AI data access
What they ask for
- Experience building LLM-powered data access such as text-to-SQL, agents or MCP servers
- Expert SQL and strong Snowflake experience
- Working knowledge of Python
- Strong data governance: quality, lineage and access controls
- Comfortable in an all-remote, asynchronous company
- Based in the United States
