The role
GitLab is hiring an Engineering Manager to lead the Dedicated Infrastructure team, which runs the large-scale infrastructure behind GitLab Dedicated, its hosted SaaS platform. The role combines hands-on technical leadership with team development. GitLab roles are remote, and this one is paid on a US salary range.
What you will do
- Set priorities with the team's Product Manager and deliver with quality and speed
- Keep Dedicated infrastructure at 99.9% availability or better, strengthen security and automate operations for more tenants
- Build self-service platforms so feature teams can run their services in production
- Recruit, onboard and develop team members
- Lead incident management, resolution and escalation, and teach best practices
- Use data to prioritize work and manage risk and technical debt
What they ask for
- Track record building and owning large-scale distributed services
- Experience with fleet management, Terraform, AWS and automated provisioning at 20 or more clusters
- Experience owning services with 99.99% availability SLOs
- Experience using AI tools to improve team productivity
- Experience building accountable teams, including handling underperformance
- Ability to lead complex projects without a dedicated Technical Program Manager
- Experience leading distributed, remote teams
