The role
Grafana Labs is hiring a Staff Backend Engineer for the Mimir Query squad in its Databases team, which runs the metrics, logs, traces and profiles databases behind Grafana Cloud. Remote, for candidates in US time zones.
What you will do
- Design, build, operate and maintain critical distributed systems, owning reliability, performance and availability
- Drive projects from idea through to operation in customers' hands
- Deliver new features and iterate on the results
- Write and review pull requests and design documents, and shepherd automated release rollouts
- Join a follow-the-sun on-call rotation for the services you run
- Contribute to open-source projects beyond the team's scope
What they ask for
- Solid experience with at least one programming language; the team uses Go, and Python, C, C++ or Rust translate well
- Experience leading projects from requirements to shipping to customers
- Ability to break complex problems into short feedback loops and modular solutions
- Good communication and time management in a fully remote squad
- Based in US time zones
