The role
1Password is hiring a Staff IT Engineer to lead its Device Infrastructure Services team, which manages hardware and operating systems across the company. The role moves device management toward DevOps and AI-enabled operations. It is remote within Canada and the US.
What you will do
- Set and deliver a roadmap for a GitOps-style operating model for roughly 2,000 endpoints
- Drive config-as-code, version control, code review and CI/CD in place of manual console changes
- Lead adoption of agentic AI on the device team, with guardrails for autonomy versus human checkpoints
- Act as final escalation point for high-severity macOS and Windows endpoint incidents
- Pilot new tooling such as MDM and patch management systems and drive build-versus-buy decisions
- Advise product teams and run Customer Zero pilots on the internal fleet
What they ask for
- 7+ years of IT and enterprise endpoint management, including 2+ years at senior or staff IC level
- Experience building and managing endpoints with GitOps practices
- Deep operating system-level knowledge and ability to fix fleet-wide patterns
- Strong scripting and IaC skills in Bash, Python and Terraform
- Practical experience using AI tools in IT operations
- Knowledge of endpoint security: encryption, patching, EDR, least privilege and SOC 2 or ISO 27001
- Located in Canada or the US
