The role
1Password is hiring a Staff Security Engineer for its Security Incident Response team. The role combines leading complex incidents with building AI-assisted response tooling and running readiness programs. Open to candidates in Canada and the US.
What you will do
- Act as incident manager and technical escalation point for complex, high-severity events
- Design and build AI-assisted and automated systems to triage, investigate and contain incidents
- Set safety controls, approval gates, auditability and rollback for automated actions
- Own readiness programs such as tabletop exercises and gamedays
- Advance threat hunting and insider risk capabilities
What they ask for
- Significant experience leading high-severity security incidents, as incident commander or equivalent lead
- Experience building AI-assisted or agentic automation for security operations
- Strong software engineering skills and experience building production tooling
- Experience owning a security capability roadmap end to end over multiple quarters
- Understanding of cloud-native, SaaS and identity-driven attacks and response
- Experience running tabletop exercises or gamedays
- Strong written and verbal communication with senior leadership
- Located in Canada or the US
