The role
Grafana Labs is hiring a Staff Software Engineer for the Adaptive Telemetry group in its Databases department, which builds Adaptive Metrics, Logs, Traces and Profiles for Grafana Cloud. The role is remote, for candidates in Canadian time zones.
What you will do
- Set technical strategy and roadmap for the Adaptive Telemetry products
- Lead large cross-functional projects from planning and design to rollout and long-term operation
- Own architecture, reliability, performance and cost for critical systems
- Define SLOs and SLIs, run high-severity incident response and lead blameless post-mortems
- Improve observability, runbooks, capacity planning and automation
- Mentor senior and mid-level engineers and lead design reviews
What they ask for
- Proven delivery of large distributed systems spanning multiple teams, with technical leadership
- Strong systems-design skills on latency, consistency, availability, scaling and cost
- Hands-on cloud-native experience: microservices, containers, Kubernetes and infrastructure as code
- Experience defining SLOs and SLIs, capacity planning and performance tuning
- Strong coding skills; the team uses Go, and Python, C, C++ or Rust transfer well
- Comfort with AI-assisted development
- Based in Canadian time zones
