The role
Canonical is hiring an engineering manager to lead its Ceph and distributed storage team, working to make open source storage on commodity hardware easy to install and manage. The role is remote with global travel of up to 20%.
What you will do
- Lead a team building a Ceph-based software-defined storage solution
- Build and manage a globally distributed team of engineers
- Coach and mentor the team and contribute to its goals directly
- Set schedules from considered estimates and manage expectations with other teams
- Advance agile practices and a culture of quality
What they ask for
- Software engineering background, preferably with Python and C++
- Experience operating scale-out storage clusters on Linux in production, preferably Ceph
- Experience leading, coaching and mentoring software developers
- Solid experience in an agile development environment
- Willing to travel up to 20% for internal and external events
