The role
Coinbase is hiring a Forward Deployed Engineer, embedded in Finance within the Office of the CTO. You would find workflow automation opportunities in FP&A and Treasury and prototype them on Coinbase's existing AI platform. The company is remote-first.
What you will do
- Embed with FP&A and Treasury leadership to find the highest-value automation opportunities, such as period-end close and variance analysis
- Prototype quickly on Coinbase's existing AI platform before recommending new builds
- Own the Finance automation roadmap and translate financial workflows into engineering requirements
- Define build-versus-buy strategy for Finance tooling
- Make automated financial outputs traceable and reviewable for auditors, with SOX and human-in-the-loop controls
- Drive adoption through walkthroughs and feedback loops
What they ask for
- 5+ years of software engineering, shipping production systems in ambiguous, stakeholder-heavy settings
- Hands-on experience deploying LLM applications: prompt engineering, evaluation, hallucination guardrails and human-in-the-loop design
- Ability to embed with non-technical experts and turn their workflows into engineering requirements
- Familiarity with financial systems: ERP data flows (NetSuite, Workday, Anaplan), reconciliation logic, trial balances and SOX-controlled environments
- Familiarity with multi-agent orchestration, including handoffs, escalation and auditability
- Experience in forward deployed engineering, solutions engineering or embedded technical advisory work
