The role
Coinbase is hiring an Offensive Security Engineer on its Application Security team to use frontier AI models for vulnerability discovery and to red team internal AI systems. The role is remote in Canada, with quarterly in-person working sessions.
What you will do
- Build security scanners that use frontier models to find vulnerabilities
- Red team internal AI systems
- Automate vulnerability triage and remediation workflows
- Work with engineering teams to fix critical vulnerabilities
- Mentor junior security engineers
What they ask for
- 3+ years in application security, penetration testing or offensive security
- Hands-on experience using LLMs to automate security work
- Experience red teaming AI systems (prompt injection, jailbreaks, tool abuse)
- Deep knowledge of OWASP Top 10 and SANS Top 25 vulnerability classes
- Proficiency in Python, Go or a similar language
