The role
GitLab is hiring a Principal Product Marketing Manager to own its competitive positioning on AI and agentic software development. The role reports to the Senior Director, Product & Solutions Marketing and works with sales, product, analysts and executives. GitLab is remote-first.
What you will do
- Own GitLab's competitive positioning for AI and agentic software development, from landscape analysis to field narrative
- Run a process that turns competitive signals into positions and actions within days
- Advise Product on what competitor moves mean for roadmap order, with evidence and a recommendation
- Build competitive assets, plays and objection handling for sales, and measure their effect on win rate
- Work with Growth and Campaigns on competitor displacement campaigns
- Brief investor relations, analysts, sales and executives, and raise the bar across the PMM team

- Deep expertise in the SDLC, DevSecOps and agentic software development
- Track record of competitive positioning that measurably improved win rates
- Fluency in the AI and agentic coding tool landscape
- Thought leadership with industry recognition, such as speaking or publications
- Experience briefing executives, investor relations and industry analysts
- Ability to form a clear point of view quickly with incomplete information
- Practical use of AI tools in daily work
- Willingness to travel when needed
