The role
The company is hiring a Backend Engineer for the Repository Management team in the Source Code stage. You would work in Ruby and GraphQL on repository configuration and policy features used on the company.com, self-managed and Dedicated, including guardrails for AI agents working in repositories.
What you will do
- Develop secure, well-tested, performant features in Ruby and GraphQL
- Work through complex requirements and legacy constraints while protecting reliability
- Contribute to backend services, APIs, data models and business logic for repository management
- Collaborate across teams, asynchronously and live, and involve domain experts
- Use AI agents for well-scoped work and review their output critically
- Monitor production health, join Tier 2 on-call, troubleshoot incidents and improve observability
What they ask for
- Professional experience building backend web applications, services or APIs, with Ruby and GraphQL or ability to learn them
- Understanding of relational databases, SQL, data modeling, caching and background processing
- Experience with policy, permissions or rules-based features in web applications
- Experience writing backend unit and integration tests, plus Git and code review
- Experience using AI coding tools or agents and reviewing their output
- Clear written and spoken English
