The role
The company is hiring a Senior Software Engineer for its Ecosystem Services team, which builds and operates back-end platforms behind the company products such as VPN, Relay and Monitor. Engineers own their services end to end, including production operation. Several back-end teams are hiring.
What you will do
- Lead backend development, building and maintaining server-side logic
- Own services end to end: deploy them, operate them and keep them healthy in production
- Maintain production environments with the cloud engineering team using OpenTelemetry, Sentry, Prometheus and Grafana
- Join an on-call rotation to triage and resolve production issues
- Rotate into a support role handling releases, dependency updates and work requests
- Contribute to API design, code reviews, and security and privacy reviews
What they ask for
- 4+ years of software development focused on backend technologies
- Strong professional experience with Python, TypeScript/Node.js or Rust building back-end services
- Proficiency with PostgreSQL, SQL optimization, schema design and migrations with a query builder such as Knex
- Hands-on DevOps on Google Cloud Platform with Docker-based build and deploy pipelines
- Experience with observability tooling such as Sentry and Grafana
- Strong engineering judgment under ambiguity and a commitment to shipping reliable work
