The role
The company is hiring a Staff Software Engineer for its Maps team, which builds the shared geospatial platform used across its IoT products. The role is remote and open to candidates based in the US.
What you will do
- Set the technical direction for the Maps team and platform
- Build geospatial ingestion and processing pipelines and serve map data through reusable APIs
- Scale storage, query and compute for real-time features that depend on map data
- Consolidate team-specific geospatial solutions into platform-wide offerings
- Build agentic tools so customers can self-serve map data
- Raise the bar through code reviews, design discussions and mentoring
What they ask for
- 8+ years building software, including 2+ years as an architect or technical leader
- 4+ years on large-scale distributed systems
- 4+ years leading technical projects across multiple teams
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent practical experience
- Based in the US
- Nice to have: PostGIS, spatial SQL, GeoPandas, OpenStreetMap, GeoParquet
