The role
The company is hiring an OrioleDB Deployment Engineer for the AMER region to join the OrioleDB team. The work covers packaging, releases and deployment tooling for the OrioleDB storage engine within the the company Postgres platform. The team works asynchronously and the role is fully remote.
What you will do
- Package software into the the company/postgres repo using Nix with flakes and move packaging toward Nix over time
- Manage OrioleDB release cycles including major, minor and extension upgrades
- Expand platform release systems so developers can self-serve
- Improve CI/CD and testing, including GitHub Actions and team tooling
- Find and fix production issues in customer deployments
- Co-own the integration of OrioleDB into the the company product
What they ask for
- 3+ years of PostgreSQL experience, including extensions and performance tuning
- Proven infrastructure experience in management, tooling and optimization
- Proficiency in Nix (with flakes), Ansible, Packer, Docker, QEMU/KVM, AWS and Kubernetes
- Experience building for multiple architectures, including Linux and macOS aarch64
- Comfort with builds for C/C++, Go, JavaScript and Rust projects
- Clear communication with technical and non-technical audiences, including customers
- Experience in async, globally distributed teams
- Willingness to mentor engineers on Nix
