The role
The company is hiring a Staff Backend Software Engineer for the Databases team that builds Loki and the other telemetry databases behind Grafana Cloud. The work is Go services on Kubernetes. The role is open to candidates located in Australia or Singapore.
What you will do
- Design, build and operate critical systems, owning their reliability, performance and availability
- Deliver new features and iterate on them using results from production
- Take projects from ideation through to operations with customers
- Contribute to open-source projects beyond the team's scope
- Join on-call rotations and own the services you run
- Mentor teammates and take part in design discussions
What they ask for
- Solid experience with at least one programming language; the team uses Go, and Python, C, C++ or Rust translate well
- Experience delivering projects from requirements gathering to shipping
- Some experience building software for the cloud or in systems engineering
- Experience writing clean, maintainable and performant code
- Independent working style and good communication in a fully remote team
- Located in Australia or Singapore
