The role
The company is hiring a Performance Engineer focused on analysis and tuning, finding and delivering measured performance gains across its database, platform and APIs. You would join a new performance team as one of its first members. The role is fully remote.
What you will do
- Find bottlenecks in live production systems and describe them precisely enough for owning teams to act
- Work with database teams such as Multigres and OrioleDB, and infra teams, to land performance improvements
- Build performance methodologies and tooling that turn production data into insight
- Work with the observability team on a unified view of latency, throughput and tail behavior
- Help teams run performance analysis themselves
What they ask for
- Deep experience in performance analysis of complex distributed systems
- Ability to trace tail-latency problems from query optimizer through syscalls to the IO scheduler, reading profiles and traces at each layer
- Depth in either Linux kernel internals or database internals
- Knowledge of TCP behavior, network virtualization overhead and AWS primitives such as EBS throughput and cross-AZ latency
- Proven record of turning findings into shipped fixes, including in teams you do not belong to
- Precise, reproducible written communication
What they offer
- Fully remote with global hiring and a co-working allowance
- Equity (ESOP) for every team member
- Tech allowance for home office equipment
- Health insurance covered 100% for employees and 80% for dependents
- Annual education allowance and annual company off-site
- Asynchronous, flexible working hours
