The role
The company, the Postgres development platform, is hiring Engineering Managers to lead teams across areas such as developer-facing surfaces, core backend, Platform, EngOps and Databases. Candidates are matched to a team. This is a new role at the company, and hiring is global and fully remote.
What you will do
- Run 1:1s, performance management, career development and onboarding for your direct reports
- Own the team's hiring plan, act as hiring manager and run first-round interviews
- Own the team's roadmap and project management in Linear, plus intake and Slack triage
- Maintain the team's SLO and organize effort against support tickets
- Train as an Incident Commander and lead blameless post-incident reviews
What they ask for
- 5+ years of engineering background, credible with engineers building complex systems
- 3+ years managing remote engineering teams
- Experience managing teams at a cloud, SaaS or developer tools company; databases or developer tools preferred
- Experience leading globally distributed teams working asynchronously across time zones
- Track record of performance management, including difficult conversations
- Clear written communication in an async-first setting
