The role
The company is hiring a Senior Postgres Engineer for its Postgres team, which maintains the hosted Postgres offering of its developer platform. The role requires strong overlap with Americas time zones for production support and on-call work; the company is fully remote and hires globally.
What you will do
- Build and maintain PostgreSQL extensions in C and Rust.
- Diagnose and fix issues in managed Postgres deployments, including extension failures, core dumps and performance bottlenecks.
- Own idempotent deployment pipelines across thousands of running Postgres instances, including testing and rollout.
- Manage extension compatibility, upgrade paths and conflicts.
- Work with Postgres background workers, shared memory and hooks to build reliable features.
What they ask for
- Deep expertise in PostgreSQL internals: planner, executor, storage engine, WAL and MVCC.
- Proven experience building Postgres extensions in both C and Rust.
- Strong knowledge of the Postgres permission model, including RLS, roles and grants.
- Experience troubleshooting production issues in managed Postgres environments.
- Ability to read and navigate Postgres source code, and experience with multi-tenant architectures and running Postgres at scale.
- Working overlap with Americas time zones for on-call.
