The role
The company, a restaurant technology company, is hiring a Staff Software Engineer for its Orders Pricing team, which owns the engine that prices every order, including discounts, taxes and service charges. The engineer sets technical direction for the pricing platform across teams.
What you will do
- Align the pricing engine's technical vision and roadmap with expansion into new verticals
- Lead design and delivery of products and core capabilities spanning multiple teams
- Act as domain expert on how discounts, taxes and service charges combine
- Drive architecture for correctness, performance and scale and review designs
- Mentor engineers and close gaps in tooling, testing and delivery
- Own observability, alerting and incident response to keep pricing available
What they ask for
- 8+ years of back-end experience
- Track record delivering significant products or core capabilities across teams
- Experience designing and running distributed systems, messaging systems and microservices at scale
- REST and GraphQL expertise, including schema design and versioning
- Experience owning business-critical production services and leading incident response
- Strong relational database and data modeling skills
- Pricing, tax or payments experience is a plus
