The role
The company is hiring a Postgres Deployment Engineer to own stability and deployment of its PostgreSQL products. The work centers on the public the company/postgres repository, which builds Docker images and AWS AMIs. The role is fully remote, hiring globally.
What you will do
- Package software into the the company/postgres repo using Nix flakes or Debian packaging
- Run PostgreSQL major, minor and extension upgrades on time
- Extend GitHub Actions, team tooling and testing and release processes
- Find and fix production issues in customer deployments
- Help developers self-serve on the platform release system
- Handle GitHub and support issues and talk with customers regularly
What they ask for
- 3+ years with PostgreSQL and its ecosystem
- Knowledge of Ansible, Nix and flakes, Packer, Docker, QEMU/KVM, AWS and Kubernetes
- Experience building for Linux and macOS aarch64 targets
- Experience with Nix and conventional builds of C/C++, Go, JavaScript and Rust projects
- Willingness to work in a mixed Nix and conventional packaging setup
- Willingness to teach the engineering team to use Nix
- Comfort with regular customer interaction
