The role
The company is hiring a senior software engineer for Session Replay, a new Grafana Cloud product that ties frontend errors and performance data to recorded user sessions. The role is remote and open only to applicants in Canadian EST time zones.
What you will do
- Own the technical direction of Session Replay across frontend, backend and data systems
- Design backend architecture around columnar storage for large-scale session data, including data models, ingestion and queries
- Design investigation workflows linking replay with logs, metrics and traces
- Work with Frontend Observability, Synthetic Monitoring and Core Grafana teams on cross-product features
- Join customer calls, gather feedback and help customers adopt the product
- Improve team standards and mentor engineers

- Ability to reason about data-intensive systems: ingestion, storage, querying and cost trade-offs
- Experience building with Go on the backend and TypeScript and React on the frontend
- Comfort owning features in ambiguous problem spaces and working independently in a small remote team
- User-centered approach to software development
- Clear written and spoken English for communicating design decisions
- Residence in Canadian EST time zones
