The role
The company is hiring a Senior Backend Engineer for its Core DevOps team, working on the Container Registry. You will design and improve backend capabilities of a large global platform, working across product, frontend, infrastructure and security. The role is remote-first and asynchronous.
What you will do
- Design and ship moderate to complex backend features with little guidance, choosing between modular-monolith code, shared components and separate services
- Define backend standards for style, maintainability, testing, APIs and operational readiness
- Mentor associate and intermediate engineers through code and design reviews
- Diagnose and prevent performance and reliability problems at scale and take part in incident response
- Use AI in production engineering work, evaluate how well it works and coach others on responsible use
- Work with product managers and designers to shape requirements
What they ask for
- Strong command of backend architecture, APIs, data systems and performance tuning in a complex product
- Proficiency in modern backend languages and a good grasp of systems programming; ability to adapt matters more than one language
- Experience designing or evolving modular backend boundaries, bounded contexts and migration-safe architectures
- Ability to lead through influence and clear asynchronous written communication
- Experience building or operating agentic AI systems in production, including loops, tool use and error handling
