The role
ClickUp is hiring a Senior Manager of Software Engineering to lead its infrastructure team, covering cloud platform scaling, EKS migration and reliability. The team is distributed across the US, Canada and Europe.
What you will do
- Move data workloads to EKS and self-host key services to cut infrastructure cost
- Consolidate legacy ALBs into one EKS-managed ALB per shard
- Automate shard buildout through Backstage to remove manual scaling work
- Reduce P0/P1 incidents tied to DNS, ALB misconfiguration and EKS, and own incident follow-through
- Lead and grow a senior team of employees and contractors, and manage AWS spend and vendors
- Write code and lead design reviews while keeping a roadmap aligned with Product, AI, Enterprise and Security
What they ask for
- 9+ years in infrastructure or platform engineering, including 5+ years managing distributed teams of senior engineers while staying hands-on
- Deep AWS expertise: EKS, networking (VPC, TGW, DNS) and Terraform at scale
- Experience turning cloud priorities into 3-9 month roadmaps tied to business outcomes
- Experience running hiring loops for senior engineers
- Strong on-call instincts and incident ownership
- Security-first mindset and daily use of AI tools
- BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent
