The role
Toast is hiring a senior Android engineer for its Android Systems team, which builds the device management platform behind Toast POS hardware. The work covers system apps, device setup, policy enforcement and firmware and app updates. The role is remote in the US.
What you will do
- Design and deliver features in Toast's Android system apps
- Build background services and roll them out safely to the device fleet
- Lead Android upgrades for new Toast hardware and OS versions
- Expand end-to-end automated testing on real Toast hardware
- Investigate complex production issues across the fleet
What they ask for
- 6+ years of Android application development
- Deep experience with Hilt, AndroidX and Kotlin Coroutines
- Experience leading cross-functional projects from ideation to production
- Experience with the Android framework, AOSP or system apps in Kotlin or Java
- Experience with Android Device Owner / Device Policy Controller APIs
- Experience shipping to large device fleets with OTA updates and staged rollouts
- Experience writing automated tests with Robot, UIAutomator or similar
