The role
Coinbase is hiring a Senior Software Engineer for its Data Platform team, which centralizes internal and third-party data for analytics, ML and product features. The work covers storage, pipelines and self-service tools. Coinbase is remote-first.
What you will do
- Design and operate data services across warehouses, data lakes, Airflow, Spark, SQL and Kafka
- Build SDKs that internal services use to work with the data platform
- Deliver self-service apps for managing and troubleshooting data pipelines
- Build data security and observability services, including access control, catalog, lineage and quality tracking
- Work with analysts, ML engineers and security teams to turn requests into reusable patterns
What they ask for
- 5+ years of backend engineering building and running data systems or pipelines in production
- Proficiency in Python, Go or Java
- Knowledge of data infrastructure patterns such as caching, key/value stores and columnar storage
- Production experience with SQL, Airflow, Spark, Kafka or similar
- Experience with data security, access control or data observability
- Responsible use of generative AI with human oversight
