The role
Coinbase is hiring a Senior Staff Software Engineer for its Core Automation team to build agentic AI systems for customer support and compliance, plus a reusable platform other teams can adopt. Coinbase is remote-first with quarterly in-person sessions.
What you will do
- Own design and implementation of agentic AI systems for customer support and compliance automation.
- Architect reusable primitives, orchestration tools and interfaces so other teams can adopt agentic AI.
- Align product, compliance and operations stakeholders on scalable technical solutions.
- Lead the path from LLM prototype to production, covering grounding, hallucination reduction and reliability.
- Mentor engineers on system design, coding standards and AI/ML practice.
What they ask for
- 12+ years of backend software engineering, with deep proficiency in Go or a similar systems language.
- Shipped LLM-based or agentic AI applications to production, with measurable gains in grounding and hallucination reduction.
- Experience architecting distributed systems at large scale in ambiguous problem spaces.
- Experience working with non-technical stakeholders in compliance, operations and support.
- Record of influencing technical direction across teams and mentoring senior engineers.
