The role
Zapier is hiring a senior database reliability engineer for its State team, which runs the MySQL and PostgreSQL fleet and the Redis/ElastiCache caching layer. The position is remote for candidates in North America.
What you will do
- Set direction for automation, observability, performance and disaster recovery of the data layer
- Review database and cache designs from other engineers
- Build tooling that lets product teams use databases safely
- Grow the DBRE practice through docs, runbooks and pairing
What they ask for
- 7+ years in systems administration, systems engineering or similar
- Experience running highly available cloud database systems on AWS or another cloud
- Infrastructure as code with Terraform or similar
- Comfort operating stateful services alongside Kubernetes or other distributed systems
- Strong MySQL or PostgreSQL operations knowledge
