The role
ClickUp is hiring a Staff Data Engineer to own the architecture and technical direction of its data platform, built on AWS serverless services, Snowflake, dbt and Terraform. The role also includes setting standards and mentoring other engineers.
What you will do
- Own the architecture of ClickUp's data platform, balancing scalability, cost, reliability and speed
- Set the technical roadmap for data infrastructure with leadership
- Build frameworks and patterns that other engineers use daily
- Lead cross-team initiatives across data engineering, analytics engineering, data science and analytics
- Build pipelines with AWS Lambda, Fargate, Step Functions, Kinesis, S3, DynamoDB and Aurora, plus Snowflake and dbt
- Build infrastructure for AI/ML workloads and optimize cloud and compute cost
What they ask for
- Significant experience in data engineering or backend/infrastructure engineering, with 3+ years at senior or staff level
- Track record of owning architecture for data platforms or large distributed systems
- Deep AWS experience and infrastructure as code (Terraform and/or CDK)
- Expert SQL and Snowflake knowledge, including tuning and cost optimization
- Strong dbt and ELT/ETL experience at scale
- Advanced Python for reusable libraries and tooling
- Production experience with Airflow, Dagster or Prefect
