Toast is hiring a staff software engineer to set the technical direction of its Developer Experience team, covering local development, build tooling, shared libraries and the internal developer portal. The role is remote in the US.
What you will do
- Set architecture for local development, build tooling and the developer portal
- Design self-service golden paths for product teams
- Build cross-cutting parts of the platform hands-on

- 8+ years of professional software engineering
- Build systems and dependency management at scale such as Gradle, Maven or npm
- Experience designing developer products such as CLIs, SDKs or portals
- Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools
