The role
Coinbase is hiring a Staff Software Engineer for the Agent Engagement and Experience team, which builds platforms used by customer service and compliance (KYC) agents. Coinbase is remote-first, with quarterly in-person working sessions.
What you will do
- Architect and deliver distributed backend systems and infrastructure components using Go, gRPC, TypeScript and React
- Set technical direction and roadmaps with engineering management and stakeholders
- Build and scale reliable services for agent workflows and compliance processes, from design to production
- Mentor engineers on design, coding standards, testing and operations
- Work with teams across multiple time zones to find platform improvements
What they ask for
- 8+ years of software engineering, delivering distributed systems
- Deep Go experience building high-traffic backend services
- Experience with gRPC, GraphQL, Kafka or MQ, and SQL or NoSQL databases
- Hands-on with AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform and CI/CD
- Knowledge of rate limiting, caching, load balancing, circuit breakers and observability
- Track record leading projects and influencing architecture without direct authority
- Responsible use of generative AI with human oversight
