The role
Coinbase is hiring a Staff Software Engineer for the FCM team at Coinbase Financial Markets, its CFTC-regulated futures commission merchant. The role covers the futures trade lifecycle and a replatforming onto a newer architecture. Remote-first company.
What you will do
- Own design and architecture across the FCM core, from market data and order routing to settlement, reporting and risk
- Drive the replatforming and reduce dependence on legacy vendors
- Set the technical bar through code, design reviews and standards
- Work with Product, CFM Risk and Ops, Finance and Compliance to deliver correct, auditable systems
- Mentor engineers across the team
What they ask for
- 8+ years of backend engineering on complex production distributed systems
- Direct FCM or derivatives experience in part of the futures trade lifecycle
- Proficiency in a modern backend language (Go preferred, or Java) and event-driven, high-availability design
- Experience in a regulated financial environment such as CFTC or NFA
- Track record delivering end to end, including migrations off legacy systems
- Ion XTP or similar exchange platform experience is preferred
