The role
Appen is looking for independent contractors to work on Project Lupin, a speech recognition project run through CrowdGen. You will listen to Polish audio recordings and check and correct the segmentation and transcripts used to improve AI speech models.
What you will do
- Produce verbatim transcripts of real audio recordings, including filler words, repetitions and stutters
- Check and correct audio segmentation and timestamps, aiming for under 500ms deviation
- Label speakers in conversations with 2 to 8 participants
- Annotate non-speech events such as laughter, background noise and unintelligible audio
What they ask for
- Native-level fluency in Polish, including regional accents and informal speech
- Strong listening comprehension and attention to detail
- Ability to transcribe verbatim, including stutters and filler words
- Comfort using browser-based tools; training is provided
- Laptop or desktop computer (mobile devices are not supported) and a reliable internet connection
- Availability of at least 10 hours per week
- Experience in transcription, annotation or linguistics is an advantage
