The role
The company is hiring a Machine Learning Engineer II for its Responsible AI team, part of the Advanced Technologies Group. The team works on fairness, bias mitigation and safety for ML and generative AI used in recommendations and search. The role is remote, with occasional in-office visits.
What you will do
- Run projects that identify, avoid and mitigate bias across ML applications, including generative AI
- Work with trust and safety, user modeling and content understanding teams on Responsible AI practices and ML fairness tooling
- Mentor junior engineers on Responsible AI
- Help define and drive technical strategy with the team and senior leaders
What they ask for
- Real-world experience applying advanced ML methods to production systems, with a record in responsible technology such as fairness and ethics
- Familiarity with transformer models, 2-tower architectures and LLMs in large-scale search and recommender systems
- Ability to measure, deploy and refine fairness interventions at scale
- 2+ years in engineering teams building large-scale ML-driven user-facing products
- Master's or PhD in Computer Science or a related field
- Nice to have: top ML conference publications, AI coding assistant use, real-time stream processing
