The role
CXM Direct, an international broker with around 60 payment methods across Asia, Africa, LATAM and the Middle East, is hiring a senior backend engineer for its new payments function. The role owns the connector and adapter layer and everything downstream of the orchestration platform.
What you will do
- Build and own a connector and adapter layer so new providers plug in through configuration
- Migrate payment methods from redirect flows to server-to-server and embedded flows
- Own reconciliation, transaction status handling and payment flows into the client portal
- Make transaction status reliable through polling, idempotent processing and reconciliation
- Build observability over transaction status and provider performance
- Specify and review the orchestration platform's state machine, routing and idempotency behaviour
What they ask for
- 5+ years in backend engineering, strong in TypeScript and Node.js with relational databases
- Production experience with payment systems: authorisation, callbacks, refunds, reconciliation, retries
- Understanding of idempotency, async status handling and transaction state machines
- Experience integrating third-party APIs and working with provider integration teams
- Able to own a service, including architecture decisions and root cause fixes
- English and Russian at a working level
- Time zone between GMT and GMT+4
