The role
Airbnb is hiring a Staff Software Engineer for the AirCover Insurance Platform team, which builds systems behind host liability insurance and host damage protection. The work covers policy, coverage and enrollment systems and experimentation. The post lists the role in the US.
What you will do
- Design the architecture that lets AirCover expand to new regions and products without rebuilds
- Lead design of an experimentation framework for insurance offers, pricing and placement
- Write and review designs and code for high-availability distributed backend services
- Analyze data to find conversion and coverage gaps and turn findings into platform changes
- Mentor engineers and work with Product, Data Science and Legal partners
- Apply LLMs where they improve automation
What they ask for
- 9+ years of software development experience, or 7+ with an advanced degree
- Backend expertise in service-oriented architectures with Java, Kotlin, Python, Go or similar
- Experience designing multi-region or multi-tenant platforms with configurable rules
- Experience with A/B testing and experimentation systems
- Working knowledge of relational databases and SQL, plus monitoring and logging
- Technical leadership across teams with strong communication
- Insurance, payments or fintech experience is a plus
