The role
The company is hiring an Engineering Manager for its Ingest team in the Observability department. The team owns Fleet Management, the Kubernetes Monitoring Helm Chart and the Instrumentation Hub. The remote role considers candidates in Germany, Sweden, Spain, Ireland and the UK only.
What you will do
- Manage and develop backend and frontend engineers, with regular feedback and career conversations
- Work with go-to-market so customers succeed in setting up observability collection
- Work with product and engineering leadership so Fleet Management, the Helm Chart and the Instrumentation Hub fit the Grafana Cloud experience
- Guide projects from early ideation through planning, execution and post-launch
- Build a safe environment for engineers to experiment and iterate
- Contribute to projects outside the team and partner with other functions on customer problems
What they ask for
- Experience in observability (especially OpenTelemetry) or in building a control plane that manages fleets of collectors is a strong advantage
- Comfort working with autonomous engineering teams while keeping up with technical trends
- Ability to collaborate across time zones and cultures in a fully remote setting
- Record of managing complexity, aligning stakeholders and raising team performance
- Solid grasp of distributed systems: scalability, fault tolerance, consistency and observability
- Comfort using AI-assisted tooling
- Located in Germany, Sweden, Spain, Ireland or the UK
