The role
The company is hiring a Senior Distribution Engineer for its Build team. You would maintain the pipelines that produce the company packages and container images for supported Linux distributions, architectures and cloud marketplaces, and keep bundled components current and license-compliant.
What you will do
- Build and maintain packages for supported Linux distributions and architectures, including release work
- Develop and maintain official the company container images and component build tooling
- Give development teams guides and infrastructure to integrate their components into packages on their own
- Work with security teams to fix vulnerabilities and keep dependencies up to date
- Manage cloud marketplace listings and integrations with major cloud providers
- Test installation, update and upgrade processes and documentation before release
What they ask for
- Experience with Linux build toolchains such as autotools, make, CMake or Nix
- Experience building container images with container build tooling in production
- Experience building .deb and .rpm packages on Debian and Red Hat based systems
- Experience with CI systems such as the company CI, GitHub Actions, Jenkins or Travis CI
- Experience writing and maintaining complex shell scripts in production
- Written and spoken English in a remote, largely asynchronous setting
- Experience with a major cloud provider such as GCP, AWS or Azure
- Ruby, Go, Python, Rust or Prometheus and Grafana is a plus
