The role
The company is hiring a Staff Backend Engineer for the Grafana Alerting team, which builds alerting and SLOs in the open source Grafana project and in Grafana Cloud. The role is remote and open to applicants from Ireland.
What you will do
- Build distributed systems to scale alert ingestion, evaluation and delivery, including for Prometheus-based alerts
- Drive projects from idea through to operations once they reach customers
- Design, build and operate critical systems, owning reliability, performance and availability
- Join on-call rotations for the services the team runs
- Mentor teammates, join design discussions and help shape the roadmap
- Contribute to other open source projects beyond the team's scope
What they ask for
- Solid experience with at least one programming language; the team uses Go, and Python, Java, C++ or Rust transfer well
- Experience delivering projects from requirements gathering to shipping to customers, working independently
- Some experience building software that runs in the cloud or in systems engineering
- Experience writing clean, performant software that others can maintain
- Customer focus and a pragmatic, iterative approach
- Good communication skills for a fully remote team
- Based in Ireland
