The role
The company is hiring a Staff Software Engineer (SRE) to improve the reliability of Grafana Cloud's Mimir, Loki, Tempo and Pyroscope databases for its highest-SLA customers. The role is remote, for candidates from the UK, Sweden, Spain, Germany or Ireland.
What you will do
- Own production reliability for high-SLA and complex customer environments, embedded in product engineering squads
- Define and evolve per-tenant SLOs and reduce SLO burn to prevent repeat incidents
- Act as a primary escalation point and on-call, and lead customer-impacting incident response and post-incident reviews
- Build automation to remove toil and improve alert quality
- Contribute to design docs and code reviews, and influence feature design for scalability and operability
What they ask for
- 8+ years of engineering experience, 4+ in SRE, customer reliability or production engineering
- Strong Kubernetes experience on AWS, GCP or Azure, and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Helm, Terraform or Jsonnet
- Experience operating multi-tenant systems in production and designing SLOs
- Experience with a programming language such as Go, Python or Java
- Knowledge of Linux internals, networking, cloud storage and scaling
- Experience with blame-free incident response and writing post-incident reviews
- Technical leadership and mentoring experience
