The role
GitLab is hiring a Senior AI Engineer on its Enterprise AI team to build internal AI solutions, starting with Sales, Marketing and Customer Support. You will own projects from discovery through deployment. GitLab works remotely and asynchronously.
What you will do
- Map workflows and decide whether AI is the right fix before building
- Own AI initiatives from stakeholder discovery through deployment and iteration
- Ship AI-powered prototypes quickly with measurable business value
- Integrate AI into existing systems using APIs, orchestration tools and platforms such as GitLab Duo Agent Platform
- Track business and flow metrics to show results
- Use and showcase GitLab's own AI products and feed insights back to R&D
What they ask for
- Able to build working solutions end to end with clean, maintainable code
- Strong proficiency in a scripting language such as Python or JavaScript/TypeScript
- Solid understanding of REST APIs, GraphQL and integration patterns
- Practical depth in prompt engineering, including context windows and output evaluation
- Understanding of model selection, cost trade-offs and when to use RAG
- Knowledge of agentic patterns: tool use, multi-agent orchestration, guardrails and evaluation
- Ability to work with stakeholders across business functions
