The role
Coinbase is hiring a senior engineering manager for its Data Platform team, which builds storage, streaming, data lakes, analytics and experimentation systems, plus privacy and governance tooling. The company is remote-first, with quarterly in-person working sessions.
What you will do
- Lead, coach and grow engineers and support their career progression
- Set a quarterly roadmap with Product, Design, Engineering and senior leaders and deliver it iteratively
- Guide technical decisions and promote high-quality code and reliable distributed systems
- Stay close to the work through design reviews, code reviews, incident leadership and on-call
- Own processes that help the team meet service-level commitments
- Partner with recruiting to hire engineers
What they ask for
- 7+ years of software engineering, ideally in data platform or infrastructure, including 2+ years in engineering management
- Experience building and operating distributed systems at scale
- Strong engineering judgment about quality and maintainability
- Ability to work through ambiguity and turn complex goals into actionable work
- Hands-on leadership style, willing to do technical and operational work
- Experience leading technical change in a large, fast-moving organization
- Familiarity with blockchain infrastructure such as Bitcoin or Ethereum
