The role
Reddit is hiring a founding Staff Machine Learning Engineer for its AI Security team, building models that detect prompt injection, jailbreaks and sensitive data exposure. The role is a hands-on individual contributor position with technical leadership duties, and is remote.
What you will do
- Select, fine-tune, evaluate and deploy pretrained models and classifiers for security problems
- Build reproducible training and evaluation pipelines on Reddit's ML platform
- Set the technical vision and multi-quarter modeling roadmap
- Evaluate accuracy and adversarial robustness and define launch criteria
- Own training-data quality and the production model lifecycle
- Mentor engineers and lead technical reviews
What they ask for
- 8+ years developing ML models with production impact and cross-team leadership
- Strong Python and deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch or Hugging Face
- Knowledge of neural architectures, tokenization, embeddings, language modeling and calibration
- Experience with distributed training such as Ray Train or PyTorch Distributed
- Rigor in evaluation: holdouts, ablations, adversarial tests and error analysis
- Clear communication of model behavior and risk
