The role
The company is hiring a Software Engineer for its Store team, which builds the backend services behind the Snap Store and Charmhub.io marketplaces. Services are written mainly in Python with some Go. The role is remote with a globally distributed team.
What you will do
- Write clean web service APIs for CLI and web frontend clients, using Python and optionally Go.
- Design and implement features from spec to production and ongoing operation at scale.
- Help scale the production architecture and broaden the range of software delivered through the stores.
- Review code and technical designs from other engineers.
- Travel for 2 to 4 weeks for internal and external events.
What they ask for
- Professional proficiency building public-facing APIs and web applications in Python.
- Preference for backend code and infrastructure.
- Experience with relational and non-relational databases, data modelling and query tuning.
- Comfort with Ubuntu as a development and deployment platform.
- Strong academic performance in Computer Science, STEM or similar.
