The role
Toast, which builds technology for restaurants, is hiring a Staff AI/Agent Engineer for its Care Automation team. You would build LLM and agentic automations across the tools Customer Care Agents use, including Salesforce Service Cloud and Amazon Connect.
What you will do
- Design, build and operate AI automations and agentic workflows that help Care Agents resolve issues faster
- Build integrations between LLM systems and Salesforce, Amazon Connect and iPaaS platforms
- Prototype agentic solutions that act autonomously with human-in-the-loop checkpoints
- Write automated tests and take part in code reviews
- Monitor AI system performance, respond to incidents and iterate on feedback
- Partner with software engineers, Salesforce developers and operations
What they ask for
- 5+ years of software engineering with hands-on production AI/ML experience
- Practical experience with LLMs, agentic frameworks such as LangChain or LangGraph, and prompt engineering
- Strong backend skills in Python, Java or Go
- Experience with event-driven architectures and enterprise system integrations
- Ability to weigh accuracy, latency and cost in production AI
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
- Nice to have: Salesforce Service Cloud, Amazon Connect, Workato, RAG, AWS Bedrock
