The role
Toast, which builds technology for restaurants, is hiring a hands-on Staff Software Engineer for its GTM & AI Strategy Engineering team. The work is building new internal tools that use LLMs and agentic workflows to automate sales processes. The posting describes a hybrid work model.
What you will do
- Code high-performance backend services and ML pipelines, spending most time hands-on
- Build internal products from scratch using LLMs and agentic AI for account research, lead prioritization and quoting
- Connect the quoting engine, Salesforce and internal data lakes with low latency
- Solve synchronization and architecture challenges across the go-to-market stack
- Build observability into every service shipped
What they ask for
- Extensive backend experience in Java, Go or Python building distributed systems
- Hands-on experience building LLM agents in production
- Ability to implement event-driven architectures and manage data flow across systems
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field
- Nice to have: sales tech or fintech tools experience
- Nice to have: AWS data services such as SageMaker, Lambda and SQS
