The role
Supabase is hiring a Software Engineer for Functions (Compute), building its microVM-based compute platform for agentic workloads alongside Edge Functions. The company is fully remote and hires globally.
What you will do
- Build and architect the Compute platform on Firecracker microVMs
- Add monitoring, alerting and OpenTelemetry tracing to improve latency and reliability
- Contribute upstream to Firecracker, Deno and other open-source projects
- Take part in an on-call rotation
- Improve features such as scheduled functions, background tasks, WebSockets and custom routing
- Integrate Compute with Auth, Postgres, Storage and Realtime
What they ask for
- At least 5 years of backend or systems engineering
- Strong Rust and TypeScript
- Experience with Firecracker, V8 isolates, Deno or similar runtime isolation
- Experience operating infrastructure at scale with Kubernetes, AWS, Cloudflare Workers or Redis
- A view on pushing compute and data to the edge
