The role
Canonical is hiring an engineering manager for its BootStack team, which designs, builds and operates distributed systems on private infrastructure for customers, from Kubernetes to OpenStack. The role manages a growing team across development and operations. Globally remote.
What you will do
- Manage a growing team to improve quality and speed of development and operations
- Track team health indicators
- Put disciplined engineering and operations processes in place
- Represent the team to stakeholders, customers and other teams
- Keep the team focused on priorities and milestones
- Meet service level agreements on customer deployments worldwide
What they ask for
- Bachelor's or equivalent education in a technology field
- Professional software delivery in Python, Go, C, C++ or Java, and/or managing operations teams
- Proven OpenStack experience
- Experience with Linux system administration; Ubuntu or Debian a plus
- Experience with agile methods and managing distributed teams
- Understanding of cloud topologies and complex distributed systems
- Travel of roughly 20% or less for events and customer meetings
