The role
Canonical's Security Operations team is hiring a senior or staff engineer to help build and run its Security Operations Center. The role blends monitoring and incident response with security and software engineering. Remote, with junior positions also available.
What you will do
- Provide operational and engineering leadership for the SOC
- Monitor for, respond to and remediate security incidents
- Design and build security software and platforms
- Assess and improve Canonical's security controls
- Mentor early-career engineers and contribute to open source security
- Publish blog posts, whitepapers and conference talks
What they ask for
- 10+ years of relevant professional experience
- Professional cybersecurity experience, preferably working in or leading a SOC
- Professional engineering experience
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python and Bash
- Knowledge of Git, GitOps, infrastructure as code and orchestration such as Kubernetes
- Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or another STEM subject, or a strong case for an alternative path
