The role
Airbnb's Guest Data Science team is hiring a Senior Staff Data Scientist to use AI and causal inference to understand guest behavior in search and discovery. The role is US remote eligible, for residents of states where Airbnb has a registered entity.
What you will do
- Analyze granular user action and sequence data to understand how guests navigate and return to the app
- Build prototypes that detect and quantify guest preferences using AI toolkits
- Set up experiments and feedback loops to validate hypotheses on guest engagement
- Partner with product and engineering on frameworks for revealed preferences and online friction
- Present findings and recommendations to leadership
What they ask for
- Causal inference expertise with marketplace experience
- Advanced degree in CS, statistics, econometrics or a related field
- 9+ years of industry experience with a PhD, or 12+ with a Master's
- Expert in Python or R, familiar with SQL, able to build proof-of-concept prototypes
- Strong communication with product, engineering and design partners
- Must live in a US state where Airbnb has a registered entity
